World Food Day celebration at PRIST University, 
Thanjavur, India

On the eve of world food day, world food day celebration event was organized at School of Agriculture, PRIST University, Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, South India in a spectacular manner. PRIST University is actively contributing in the sphere of environment conservation, food loss prevention, disaster management avenues for more than 2 decades by organizing various workshops, seminars and capacity building programme. Dr.K.C.Sivabalan FAO food advocate and Asst.Professor (Agrl.extension), School of Agriculture, PRIST University, Thanjavur welcomed the gathering.  Dr. Ashutos Das, Director, CEE in his presidential address urged for the imperative need for awareness for the ill effects of  junk food and the need for balanced nutrition among the teenagers. The chief guest of the program Dr.T.Dakshinamoorthy physiotherapist turned to be traditional herbal medicine practisioner for more than 25 years explained about the status of food security in Indian sub continent and global level and need for food safety in today’s societies. Faculty members from various departments, around 100 students from various disciplines including agriculture, agricultural engineering, environmental engineering and scientists from Centre for research and development participate during the program. The participants blissfully expressed that the event enriched their knowledge in the domain of food security as well as their strong will in joining efforts taken for food loss and food safety in future.
